Abstract : The method involves determining two times (tFAF, tTD) corresponding with start of a final approach and landing of an aircraft on a runway. A set of satellites of a satellite navigation system is determined and excluded from calculation of aircraft position information during a portion of time interval. The aircraft position information is determined by excluding the information from the satellites of a satellite set. The aircraft is guided along a final approach path by a position information unit. An independent claim is also included for a system for piloting an aircraft during runway approach.
