Modeling the impact of solar parks on VHF aeronautical communications

Abstract : The setting of photovoltaic power stations near aeronautical communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) devices may cause scattering and multipath effects. For VHF radiocommunications, this may lead to a critical degradation of onboard/ground communications. This paper aims at proposing a fast computation of the impact of such solar parks on communication signals, based on the solar-panels bistatic radar cross section (RCS) and multipath calculation.
